ABOUT BFG

LEADERSHIP

BRETT FISHER, MBA

FOUNDER / MANAGING DIRECTOR

Brett is a management consultant, talent acquisition partner, and network connector, born and raised in Los Angeles. Long before Brett interviewed candidates for his clients, he auditioned musicians and performers for live theatrical productions. Live theatre has always been a passion for Brett, having received his undergraduate degree in music education and conducting.

After graduating from UCLA, Brett spent two years in New York City. While there, he worked for Richard Frankel Productions, a well-known commercial theatre production and general management company. In 2002, Brett resumed studies at The University of Southern California in arts management and developed an extensive five-year business plan for the Santa Monica Civic Light Opera (SMCLO), a community producing partner to Santa Monica High School’s Theatre program. Brett’s vision led to many notable productions, including bringing two complete summer tours of SMCLO’s professional productions to Avalon’s Casino Theatre on Catalina Island. In 2006, Brett was named General Manger for the Rubicon Theatre Company in Ventura, CA. Brett’s work in Ventura contributed to many Ovation-nominated productions, including Back Home Again, a John Denver Holiday Concert, The Diary of Anne Frank, and Hamlet.

Brett’s depth of experience in building teams (both on and off stage) comes from working in two different non profit organizations prior to forming the Brett Fisher Group (BFG) in 2008, a business entity that pulls together an extensive network of talented and experienced professionals. Since 2008, BFG has successfully placed top talent with backgrounds in accounting, finance, sales, marketing, human resources, and administrative professionals throughout greater Los Angeles. With carefully-selected clients in his portfolio, BFG only looks to make “purposeful introduction” of candidates to his clients, understanding that a successful long-term relationship with both his candidates and clients, is ultimately what brings his team great satisfaction.

Education:
B.A., Music, University of California, Los Angeles (2000)
M.B.A., Pepperdine University (2011)

On a Saturday afternoon/evening I can be found:
Going on an adventure with my 3 kids and in the spring, coaching my son Brayden’s baseball team!

One of my favorite places to go in L.A. is:
LAX, leaving on an international trip!

One piece of advice for candidates:
Be nice, be responsive, and pay it forward. You never know who’s going to open the door you need to get to where you want to go.

Testimonials

“We engaged two firms for a dedicated, confidential search for a new Controller. Samantha far exceeded the more seasoned recruiter at the other firm. Not only were her candidates fully vetted, but she was also in communication with us every step of the way and was integral in assisting us with the final compensation negotiations.”

Mary S., investor in medical device servicing company.

“I’ve worked with Samantha within various different professional capacities over the last many years. I’ll never forget our first meeting together where she very quickly ascertained some needs I had in my staffing. She was able to, with her extensive network, recommend a perfect candidate for me, and all within our first meeting. I knew then that Samantha wasn’t like her peers in the field. She is a business partner, putting t he needs of her contacts as her primary end goal. This is what makes her great. As it turned out, the introduction she made was a perfect fit, and was outside of any referral agreement as my business didn’t support that model. When asked why she was so readily interested in facilitating the hire without any fee, she said, “I knew you would be as good of a fit for my candidate as the candidate was for you. That’s what is most important.” To this day I provide as many introductions to Samantha as I can.”

Scott S., SVP Commercial Banking Leader

“Samantha asks a lot more questions than most recruiters do, but that is ok. To me, this meant she was not going to try to fit me into a position I was not right for. Instead, she would keep a constant eye out for a new career opportunity that I would be excited about. In the meantime, she was very generous about ways to network and made several meaningful introductions within the industry.”

Matt G., COO natural foods company.

“When Samantha was our commercial banker, she spent a great deal of time to understand not only what we do but how we do it and why. Committed to getting our story right, resulted in whether our loans were approved or not. I can see where her previous experience in commercial banking is helping her in executive recruiting. She can articulate her client’s story to the right candidates while also presenting the candidates in the very best light possible.”

Dave L., Founder & President of an organic ingredients company

“Samantha is a natural connector and found me two positions over a 10-year period. She gets to the heart of the person and has a knack for knowing in which work environment and culture a professional will excel. Samantha is also great at tightening up resumes and helping with LinkedIn profiles. Her goal is to always present her candidates in the best light possible.”

Eric R. 20+ year Commercial Banker
